「コスプレはもっと自由であるべきだ」――ムキムキのマッチョキャラでありながら、その対極にあるセーラームーンコスプレを堂々と披露する、あるフランス人コスプレイヤーに共感が集まっています。

『Instagram』で趣味のコスプレ写真を公開しているフランス人のレオン・ベインさん。フィットネスモデルをしているだけあって、鍛え上げられた見事な肉体です。そんな男性的な肉体美を生かして、当初のコスプレは『God of War』のクラトスや『300』のレオニダス王など筋肉キャラばかりでした。

「スーパーマンやマイティ・ソー、ヘラクレスに憧れてるなら、やっちゃえよ！　痩せてたっていいんだ。肌の色が違うキャラのコスプレだって、やっちゃえよ！　俺はゴツい腕と太い脚のマッチョだけど、セクシーな女性キャラのセーラーネプチューンになりきりたかったからコスプレしただけだ。自分を束縛するな。コスプレはなりたいものになれるきっかけを与えてくれているんだから、やってみろ！」という彼の姿勢は多くの人の共感を集めました。「いいね！」とコメントの数は以前よりずっと増え、コスプレ界の人気者に。

自らの大胆なコスプレを通して、肌の色や「男性だから……」といった偏見や社会的束縛に囚われず挑戦する姿勢と、それを受け入れる寛容な社会の大切さを訴えるフランス人コスプレイヤーのちょっといい話でした。
