なぜか「Google beta」を装う謎のスパムメールを受信

メールチェックをしようと『Gmail』にアクセスしたところ、次のようなメールが目についた。

送信元：Google beta
件名：Your payment

興味本位でメール本文を読んでみると「Please see the attached letter（添付された手紙を見てください）」とだけ書かれており、添付ファイルにはGoogle.JPGという名前のついた謎の画像ファイルがあった。拙い英語力で添付の手紙を要約してみると「Google13周年記念の賞が当たったよ！　80万ポンドだよ！　20人の中から選ばれたよ！　だから僕と契約して（ｒｙ」という感じである。なんともウサン臭いメールだが、色々とツッコミどころが多いので指摘してみよう。

1.手紙なのになぜかJPG
記念すべき当選メールであるのにもかかわらず、なぜか本文中には「手紙を見ろ」としか書かれておらず、肝心の手紙もなぜか画像ファイルの形式で送られている。レイアウトが気になるのであればせめてPDFで送るなど、もうひと工夫欲しいところだ。念のため調べてみたのだが、海外のサイトで取り上げられていた画像も全く同じ当選番号だったので、手抜きもいいところである。

2.画像のアスペクト比がおかしい
この手紙ではなぜか『Google　beta』のアイコンが採用されている。なぜbetaなのかという疑問ももっともだが、それよりもアスペクト比がおかしいのが気になって仕方がない。ご丁寧にSSL証明のロゴもくっついているがこんな画像にセキュリティなど存在しないだろう。

3.送信者がGoogleじゃない
Googleからの連絡であるはずなのに、メールアドレスが「@london.com」というドメインから送られてきている。これは明らかにダウト。

4.そもそも13周年じゃない
Google社は1998年に設立された会社。13周年であれば2011年に13周年を迎えたはずである。なぜ13周年記念で80万ポンドもプレゼントするのだろうか。謎は深まるばかりである。

ともあれ、身に覚えのない送信者からのメールが届いてもむやみに反応をしないように気をつけよう。
