東芝、7.7インチ有機EL搭載タブレットの米国モデル「Excite 7.7」にAndroid 4.1へのアップデートを提供開始

国内では「REGZA Tablet AT570」として発売されている東芝の7.7インチタブレットの米国モデル「Excite 7.7」に対して、12月20日よりAndroid 4.1（Jelly Bena）へのアップデートが配信されているそうです。アップデート後のスクリーンショットなどは目にしていませんが、東芝は購入者に対して以下のようなメールを送信しており、さらに、実際にアップデートが配信されたという情報がXDA Developersや東芝製タブレット専門のユーザフォーラムに投稿されています。更新ファイルのビルド番号は「4.1.1000121313.01」。ファイルサイズは約350MB。OSバージョンはAndroid 4.1.1に上がり、ホーム画面のUIがNexus 7と同じ”Phablet”UIに変わるほか、動作性能がICSバージョンよりも格段に良くなった。しかし、通知パネルを開く操作などで画面の明るさが上下してしまう事象は改善されていない、といった情報が伝えられています。

An instruction for using the Toshiba Service Station utility can be found in your User’s Guide. Simple installation instructions will be displayed once the update has been selected for download within the Toshiba Service Station utility.Please connect AC power, remove SD cards and disconnect USB devices before initiating the update. The complete install should take 2 to 15 minutes, depending on the type of update. During installation you will be unable to use the tablet.The tablet will power off and on as part of the install. Toshiba recommends that you also power off your tablet, once the installation has completed by holding down the power button for approximately 10 seconds. You may see a prompt asking if you wish to power off your system. Either select OK to shutdown, or continue to hold down the power button until the tablet vibrates and powers off. Your tablet may then be powered on and used in the normal manner.
